BOARD CERTIFICATION
In 2007, Philip S. Wartenberg attained board certified status as a specialist in the field of marital and family law. Mr. Wartenberg is one of only 24 other attorneys in Hillsborough County who presently hold that distinction.
Board certification requires high standards, continuing legal education and professionalism in the practice of law. By becoming board certified, a lawyer demonstrates an ongoing commitment to high standards in that lawyer’s practice. The public can rely on the fact that board certified lawyers are preeminent in competence and ethics.
To become a board certified specialist in marital and family law, a lawyer must:
- Be an active member in good standing of The Florida Bar;
- Have practiced law for a minimum of five years;
- Complete approved legal education programs;
- Demonstrate substantial experience in the speciality area;
- Be favorably evaluated by judges and other lawyers as to ability and experience in the speciality field;
- Exhibit character, ethics, and professionalism;
- Pass a written examination in the speciality area.
Certification in marital and family law identifies a lawyer as one with special knowledge, skills and proficiency in marital and family law, and distinguishes a lawyer as a specialist in that practice area. A board certified lawyer has a special responsibility above and beyond other members of The Florida Bar to maintain the standards of conduct and professionalism required of certified lawyers.
